OK, I know what you're thinking... "Who the heck is Julia and what did she ever do to deserve a song like this?"  The truth is, there is NO Julia... honest! This tune was actually written as part of a song writing exercise that I was doing. Basically I was given the line "She writes romance with a razor blade" and had to make a song out of it. What you hear/see is the final outcome. Unfortunately for all the Julia's out there... your name just seems to fit so well with a tune. Don't believe me? Check out how many tunes there are out there named "Julia".

NOTE: One other "highlight" of this tune is that it features a killer trumpet solo recorded in Croatia by trumpet sensation Zeljko Kambic.

JULIA

Words & Music by Michael Bannerman

She writes romance with a razor blade

The more she loves, the more she bleeds

And when it rains, it's the only time I see her smile

And when there's pain, it's the only time she's pleased

JULIA... JULIA

PLEASE HELP ME UNDERSTAND

JULIA... JULIA

WHY DOES IT HAVE TO HURT TO BE YOUR MAN?

She tells stories - yah fairytales

But in the end, the hero always dies

And then she turns to me and says "I need a hero"

And then she turns to me and I don't know why

(Chorus)

Even after all the games we play, I still can't find the words to say "we're through"

I'm not quite sure just why I stay, I really should just get away from you

(Chorus)
